The 2009 Homestead General election will restore good government to our fair city. The good citizens of Homestead have
suffered long enough under the despotism of “tax and spend” Mayor Lynda Bell and her gang. Tax and fee increases, sub-standard educational facilities, and mistreatment of citizens and businesses are the hallmarks of this government. The distortions, mis-representations, outright lies, and “I love me” behavior must cease. Vote out the “gang of five” on November 3rd.

Perhaps someone in our fine audience can inform me as to how elected officials of the City of Homestead can change the FCAT ratings of Homestead schools. Perhaps I am misguided but I thought that was the purview of the Miami-Dade County School System. Mayor Lynda Bell in her last mailer is taking credit for just that. Is it possible that our now not so beloved Mayor has increased the FCAT scores of local schools? I really don’t think so. This is another instance of the grand mis-representations and disingenuous behavior of Homestead’s slate of elected officials.

Mr. Garotte is not a “businessman” if he works for CompUSA — he is an employee of CompUSA. From what I understand, Mr. Garotte’s last job was a menial one at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Again, he was not a businessman — he was an employee. Also, Mr. Garotte is not an “activist.” He was not seen at City Hall for many months until the start of election season. He is a political opportunist and now a member of the Mayor’s election slate. I suggest that Mr. Garotte’s “business” background and his so-called business skills be critically examined before votes are cast. In Homestead, many people are talking about Mr. Garotte’s business failures, bankruptcy, and foreclosure. This is one Homestead candidate that needs to be placed under the spotlight as he may not what be what he says he is. Caveat emptor.

Patricia Fairclough, wife of Melvin McCormick, is very upset over the Miami-Dade Democratic Party’s support of Jimmie Williams. Since McCormick is an independent, the Party can not support him. Apparently, Mrs. McCormick displayed the same belligerent and confrontational behavior to the Party Chairman that we have seen in Homestead from her over the last several days. Mrs. McCormick, please take our advice: you’re not ready for Prime Time and you certainly have become a terrible behavioral example for our children.

There She Goes Again: Ethics Complaint Filed Against Bell Campaign


November 1st, 2009

On October 30th, An ethics complaint was filed against the Campaign to Re-elect Mayor Lynda Bell for the endorsement of Homestead’s Police Chief Al Rolle. A mailer from the Lynda Bell for Mayor Campaign States: “ENDORSED BY HOMESTEAD POLICE CHIEF AL ROLLE.” Police Chief Al Rolle did not give permission for the endorsement. Therefore, the statement is fraudulent and misleading and a violation of Miami-Dade County and State of Florida Ethics and Election laws. Furthermore, the false endorsement is a violation of the City of Homestead Charter which prohibits such political endorsements by City employees.
